Julia falls down the Rabbit Hole - "Oh Mr Abbott, wait! please!"
Portion of the redacted (now released) section of Julia Gillard's exit interview at Slater and Gordon and my thoughts:
Reproduced (in part) from http://www.michaelsmithnews.com/2012/11/a-direct-result-of-bruce-wilsons-730-interview-thanks-again-bruce.html
PG: Do you recall whether when it was necessary to argue the case with the, with the relevant Western Australian authority, whether you consulted anyone else in the firm as to what would or would not get, become acceptable or appropriate?
JG: I once again don't recall talking to anybody else in the firm about it.
PG: Beyond that, and it seems from the file-(#1) that after that letter it was successfully accepted as an incorporated association and duly was created and presumably accounts were set up. I should ask did we have anything to do with the setting up of the accounts-(#2) or was that done by the officers of the incorporated association?
JG: Slater and Gordon-(#3)didn't have anything, did not have anything to do with setting up bank accounts for that association. We attended to the incorporation-(#4).
- At the time of the departure interview, a file was in existence. That file at the very least contained a notation that Julia Gillard had written a letter to the WA Corporate Affairs Commissioner in response to the denial of the incorporation of the AWUWRA, and may have even contained the actual Application, Denial, Response to the Denial ("that letter"), and Incorporation documents at the time. Julia Gillard has since failed to respond to questions about "that letter" written to the WA Corporate Affairs Commissioner, instead insisting that no document has ever been produced. The WA Corporate Affairs File relating to this has since gone missing, presumably stolen. The spectre of a conspiracy to cover up this portion of her dealings in this is hard to avoid.
- At the time of the departure interview, 'accounts' (presumably bank accounts) in the name of the AWUWRA had been discovered, and the law firm Slater and Gordon, Peter Gordon, and Julia Gillard were aware of them. This is in direct contrast to Julia Gillards statement "How could I report something I didn't know (paraphrased)."
- Here's a bit of political speak that makes it difficult to pin down what she means. "Slater and Gordon didn't ..." does that mean that she did but is avoiding answering the question?
- Another bit of obfuscation, "We?" Referring to the antecedent reference to Slater and Gordon as being responsible for the Incorporation of the entity, but does not rule out the private involvement of Julia Gillard in what is being alleged.
