A Bad Penny =D

This week I started back with the NSW Police. I'm the new Regional TSO for the Central West/Western NSW, looking forward to getting out and doing some work around the state and catching up with some people I haven't seen for a long while.

Darts Pro Tournament Addendum

Went to the Grand final for Western NSW in the Wild Turkey Darts Pro Tour; the guy that took me out in the Finals (Dave Whitmore) was the guy who won the event (luck of the draw huh?). Dave (the "Tiger") then went on to beat Steve “The Bronzed Adonis” Beaton, Dennis “The Menace” Priestley, Bob “The Limestone Cowboy” Anderson, Alan “The Iceman” Warriner and Richie “The Prince of Wales” Burnett (all over here from Europe) and win the night. It was great to be there, Dave is a great player who deserved to win, he's off to play on the Gold Coast this weekend, and he's my tip to win the National event. Steve Motton from Bathurst drew badly and didn't make it to the final for the night, but played very well none-the-less. Ozzie was out of luck for the night, as were Peter Corcoran from Wagga, and Al Smith from Coffs Harbour (a late ring-in from an event upset). I got my "Local Champ" shirt and a hat and got them autographed by some of the big-wigs, they were a...

Wild Turkey Darts Tournament (or - My Foray into Professional Darts)

Image
Went to Orange yesterday for the Western NSW Regional Finals with a few mates in the Wild Turkey Darts Tournament. All of the best players in our area were there, and unfortunately I drew Dave Whitmore (The Tiger) so my day was over quicker than I would have liked, but I played ok, and even won one of the games (Dave is something like No 3 in NSW or all of Oz or something, he doesn't miss much =). My other buddies from Bathurt - Neil Masters also drew badly against a fella named Rogan who knocked Neil out of the running, Dave Cheetham and Rod Evans and myself were all knocked out of the match in the second round. Steve Motton is through to the Regional Grand Final and finished second on the day to Peter someone who was WAY too full of himself and acted like a freak every time he threw a good shot, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get spoken to about calming down a bit =).

Mid Life Crisis?

My last entry in April was for my 50th Birthday. Nothing significant has changed since then, I'm still "consulting"; Carey moved into a new flat with Steve but we knew that was coming; Will and Jessie are still at home, sort of; Winter has arrived and gee it's cold =) ... Not long after my birthday I joined the local Gym and started driving down there three or four times a week, and then I started to notice a lot of portly people about my age pull up in their cars out the front, run in and exercise for 20 minutes and leave again - I thought to myself "WHY BOTHER?" if that's all you do - drive to the gym and have half a workout.  Well, I realised the hypocrisy of that idea... sure I was there for an hour or sometimes two, but I drove the 4km to the gym too... So I bought myself a mountain bike. Now I'm doing a couple of hours or more every second day on it and feel so different it's like I'm 20 years younger. The big tummy I was developing is...

My 50th

Image
We had a great time on saturday, starting at 6:30am we headed off to Vineyard (Sydney) for paintball , where we spent the day hurting each other (that was lots of fun), followed by the party last night. Nelly's car did a water pump in Sydney, and we had to leave it there, thanks to Billy Hewitt and Nathan Webster we all got home ok, even if it was 2 hours late for my party (I do like to make an entrance). It was so great to catch up with people I hadn't seen in a long time, or even a short time. The dartboard was doing overtime in the shed with all the dart players that came, and it didn't take long before everyone was getting along like old buddies, even the one that'd never met before. We had a very short cake/song/speech session before it was back to the party, which by the way ended at 4am when all that was left was Perry Ferguson, Nelly and I playing Euchre (with Perry and Nelly in fine vociferous form announcing their Euchre merits to everyone within 200 metres...

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!

It's this week, Saturday the 17th April to be exact, I'll be turning 50! (Here's a hint, I live EXPENSIVE stuff)

Synchronicity

Phew... After much editing of the basic html of blogger, I've managed to get the google site and blog site looking almost the same. Would have helped a lot if there had been internal comments in the css/html at blogger....

My Mac Page

Link to Page Ok. I've finally bitten the bullet to go with a Mac. My new laptop is a MacBook Air running Snow Leopard, and even though I'm pretty savvy with most operating systems, I bought this because Os-X was my weak point. I'm going to use this page to collect useful information about finding your way around a Mac. If you have anything that'd be ok for this page please email me the link.

Trunkey Weekend

Here's proof that the Grafton Bridge opens. It has been many years since it has openned though.

Glynis, Margy, Tom and Jerry

Just sitting here with mum reminiscing over old photos. Here's one of my two younger sisters with the family cats. They loved them, I just thought they were handy for getting rid of snakes and mice (the cats, not the girls) lol...

Back Home

We've all arrived home safely, but now I need a holiday to get over my holiday. We did some plumbing at mum's place, then put in a toilet/shower block on the farm, plus did some road work and put up a flying fox at the picnic spot. There are a heap of photos on Picasa at: http://picasaweb.google.com/greg.kroehnert/GraftonNewYear2010#
