Bathurst Races
It has been a long time between posts, but I've found the news on the bottom right a reason to keep on coming back.
We've just finished the 2007 Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 motor race, my contribution was setting up the police and emergency services IT network and infrastructure. All the stuff we planned for went well, but of course there were some difficulties with what was thrust on us without notice.
During the race we watched from "ping pong alley" out the front of the old police compound, and sure enough, right at the end of the race when all the racers were trying their hardest, a group of about 10 - 12 cars came around the narrow, sharp, concrete walled curve at over one hundred miles per hour, setting off a series of minor collisions which took out two of my favorite race drivers, Mark Skaiffe and Jason Bright. The race was won by Craig Lowndes, his second consecutive win here.
