Bush Chooks and more

Image
Driving around the outback can be interesting. I was heading out from Broken Hill to Tibooburra for a job, the skies were clouded and heavy, and the boss pointed out that if it rained it could be a couple of weeks before they saw me again. The old Aussie spirit kicked in though, fearlessly I headed north... It rained. The roads were closed. Within an hour of turning around I'd hit a Cockatoo, a skippy, and a bush chook (Emu) on the slippery clay road just south of Packsaddle. I didn't get to Tibooburra , but I did get back! A word of warning for all you daredevils that like travelling the outback, take food, take water (lots of it) and a swag. If it had rained any heavier than it did I'd still be there, but at least I'd be dining on my supplies and the wildlife I could kill with the front of the ute!!!

We're BaACK!!

Had an awesome time, lots of relaxing and eating. Put on 3.5kg (about 7 pound) in 7 days. Nelly came off her pushbike in New Caledonia, she wasn't badly hurt but it did slow her up a bit. She should be over it soon, but it'll probably take me a bit longer to live down "making" her ride...

HOLIDAY TIME!!!

Well we're off tomorrow on our cruise for our 25th Anniversary. It's only seven days, Nelly and I are going to the Isle of Pines and Noumea, New Caledonia ( map ) The ship should have internet, so expect some updates, and photos!

Busy Busy Busy

What a couple of days I'm having. Here I sit in a motel room in Wentworth (NSW) with an excellent 3G signal, having just performed open heart surgery on the MacBook Air (the CPU fan, the only moving part inside it had died for the second time in just over a year), feeling like it's friday and it's only tuesday night... So far this week I've been to Bathurst, Cowra (ATM ate my credit card), Wagga, Hay, Balranald, Euston, Dareton and Wentworth , and did a heap of jobs at each site.

New iPad

OK... So apple have released the new iPad2, and I'm determined not to get one, then I'm shopping for a ten dollar part at the electronics store and they have iPad 1's there at 33% off. The cheapest one looks awfully tempting, but they're out of stock... So here I sit in a motel room 500km from home blogging on my new iPad 32G with Wifi & 3G... Didn't need or want it but couldn't resist the bargain!

The Latest

Soooooo.... I haven't updated the blog for quite a while. Let me see... I'm enjoying working for the cops again, my 'official' area is the central west of NSW, Bathurst, Orange, Parkes (Condo, Lake Cargelligo, Cowra etc), but so far I've also been down the Riverina and Broken Hill. The boundaries are flexible, if one of the team is busy someone else goes. Jessie (our youngest) is going to be a mum in about August, her and Todd are pleased of course, but I'd really like to see them get their own place some time soon. Carey and Steve move into a place a couple of k's away, and Will is still here, but is moving into his own place soon. Nelly and I are going on a cruise for our 25th Anniversary in April, just a quick lap of the south pacific and back. Ummm.. that's about it...

Bathurst Darts Championships (Doubles)

Thanks very much to Keith Islip for partnering me in the Championship Doubles, we walked away with the win after a convincing win in the final. Keith did really well considering he's only been playing darts for a little over a year.
