Heading for Grafton

Heading up to see mum and the family in Grafton, should be back around the 4th Jan. Have a great new year everyone...

Two Days to go!

Christmas is almost here... Busy, busy, busy. Happy birthday Whitey, your birthday bash was a blast (got a new tyre on your bike yet? LOL)

A New P.B.

Set a new personal best last night, cooked a barbeque for more than 200 Emergency workers out in the Bush =)

WOW. Bush Fires, Salvos and Helicopters

It's 3am and I've just got home. Spent the evening with about a hundred fire fighters, half a dozen Salvation Army volunteers, and a few Police, Ambos, and SES guys. There's a BIG bushfire about 30km outa town, and I was volunteered by a mate to help out by cooking tea for these guys (snags, minute steaks etc). When we arrived there were two helicopters on the ground near where we were to set up, which I thought was a little unusual; they should have been in the air 'bombing' the fire. Turns out the two of them had a little altercation, and from the chunk missing from the tail of the one I saw the other one was lucky not to have come down a lot harder than it did. They're both grounded until they can be inspected, and the firies were bulldozing a fire break around them so they don't lose them if the fire turns back this way. The pilot of the chopper I saw was a very pale shade of white, and I guess it's lucky his uniform pants were brown =). Typical of t...

Summer Down Under

Yep, summer (and Christmas) are here. Went to Dubbo for a job today, 40 degrees celcius, flies, 5 hours of driving. On the way back we came over the top of the hill into our valley and there was a huge bushfire at the south eastern end of the valley AND another at the north western end. I'm at the company Christmas party right now so I'll finish this later =)

The Week that was...

It has been two weeks now since I 'retired'; well, tried to. I ended up working 4 days this week, at least I had a victory over an XServe that was being quite cantankerous on Friday. Friday night at the teen drop in centre was something else. We had an 8 feet wide "slip-n-slide" and there must've been 20 of the kids using it, they had a ball and got covered in grass and mud. A friend Monica spoke to the kids during the meal, and did a really great job of making Jesus accessible to them. She was able to keep these kids, who have no church background, quiet for a good 10 to 15 minutes as she explained to them just what He did, and what it means. Then we had a visit from a few lads who had been banned from the place looking for some of the boys we had inside; Mike (our Pastor) was flat out trying to keep the boys apart, and someone came and got me, but by the time I got to them there were punches flying... To the credit of one of the lads who had previously started o...

My church - link ; come visit us some time.

First BBQ of the Summer

Had our first barbeque of the summer last night. It was great. Glenn, Yollanda and Kira came over and we threw some darts, cooked up the chicken, sausages, bacon, etc, all sat down and had a great feed. Glenn and I had some intensive "real" darts practice with averages between 16 and low 20's ("real" means simulating pub conditions), the beer was flowing and so was the Irish music (thanks Will). =)

Website is up!

The website is finally up at www.kroey.net.au . This old blog is even part of it, so instead of being a cobweb I plan to start using it again. Stay tuned!

Getting Organised

Getting organised has always been like cleaning my room. Something I want / need to do, but never got around to =). I've decided to use Google Sites to link everything together, so here's my digital life: http://sites.google.com/site/bathurstkroehnerts.
