It's 3am and I've just got home. Spent the evening with about a hundred fire fighters, half a dozen Salvation Army volunteers, and a few Police, Ambos, and SES guys. There's a BIG bushfire about 30km outa town, and I was volunteered by a mate to help out by cooking tea for these guys (snags, minute steaks etc). When we arrived there were two helicopters on the ground near where we were to set up, which I thought was a little unusual; they should have been in the air 'bombing' the fire. Turns out the two of them had a little altercation, and from the chunk missing from the tail of the one I saw the other one was lucky not to have come down a lot harder than it did. They're both grounded until they can be inspected, and the firies were bulldozing a fire break around them so they don't lose them if the fire turns back this way.
